• Currently, the San Diego Clerks Office offers marriage licenses by APPOINTMENT ONLY.

You can choose the "license only" option and have a beautiful elopement or small wedding
in one of San Diego's amazing parks or on the beach.
• Plan ahead to get your marriage license ~ the marriage license is valid for 90 days.
A California marriage license can be used the very same day you purchase it.
You can bring a marriage license from ANY County Clerks office in California
to be married here in San Diego. (for example: Riverside, Orange, LA, Imperial Counties)
Each county has their own fees, hours and requirements, best to check directly with them)
• Bring your marriage to the ceremony,
we'll have your witness sign it and I will file it with
the appropriate county after the ceremony.
Confidential licenses marriage licenses
don't require any witnesses.
• Remember, again you can use a
marriage license
purchased from ANY county clerks office
in the state of California to be married in San Diego.
• YESSSS ! You can be married the same day you purchase your license!

To receive a certified copy of your
marriage license, after the wedding
you will need to contact the county
where you purchased your original marriage license,
It is usually available several weeks after the ceremony to request
a certified copy of your marriage license.
They often will require a notarized form
and about $20. (subject to change)
Pro Tip: We recommend getting at least 2 copies
to save having to repeat the process
later to obtain another copy in case of loss.
